DESCRIPTION

The stationary screen cleaner PGC-20A is designed for primary cleaning of cereal, legume and oil crops from light, fine and coarse weed and grain impurities. It is used in ZAV-20 (40) process lines to prepare the product for further processing and storage.

Grain enters the feed device, is distributed across the receiving chamber by an auger and enters the aspiration airflow. The even airflow removes light impurities, which are discharged toward the coarse waste outlet. Exhaust air with residual light impurities is sent to a cyclone or aspiration column.

Grain cleaned of light impurities enters the upper and lower screen boxes, which operate in parallel. Coarse screens are installed on the upper screen surface, allowing the main product through while coarse impurities remain on the screen and are discharged from the machine.

The pre-cleaned material passes through aspiration and the coarse screen to the sizing screens, which are smaller than the main product. Fine particles pass through the screens as the material moves along the inclined screen box, while cleaned product leaves the upper screen surface.

It should be noted that cleaning on the lower sizing screens is probabilistic: the probability that a fine particle contacts the screen surface rather than travelling through the grain layer affects separation. Therefore, fine-impurity removal depends on the grain-layer thickness on the sizing screen. This principle applies to all screen machines, so screen size is a key parameter determining capacity and cleaning quality.

PGC-20A is suitable not only for cereal grains but also for primary processing of legumes, oil crops, corn, buckwheat and other materials. The stated outlet performance can also be achieved with grain heavily contaminated by dust, harvested material, sand, straw and ears.

ADVANTAGES

  • All components except the motor are manufactured in-house. Shafts are machined along their full length with material removal minimized.
  • Pressure loss in the aspiration system is minimized along the full length, increasing draft and removing the maximum amount of light impurities from the material.
  • The vibration decks are made of galvanized steel and provide high quality and wear resistance suitable for food products. Screen dimensions and characteristics can vary within the following ranges:

    screen metal thickness — 2 mm;
    round-cell diameter — 0.6–14 mm;
    oval-cell width and length — 0.8–6 mm.

DESIGN AND OPERATION

The grain passes through the feed device, aspiration channel, upper and lower screen boxes and is separated into cleaned product and impurity fractions. The diagram shows material movement and airflow at all cleaning stages.
